Slow Nature Suite in Mas de Torrent

Within a beautiful ,natural environment and with magnificent views of the Empordà, Mas de Torrent has incorporated an eco-sustainable Nature Suite. Slow Nature Suites is an architectural project inspired by the Slow movement, which seeks to rethink traditional construction through the use of sustainably, produced materials and with an eye toward maximum energy efficiency and short construction times. Suites are designed for maximum versatility such that they work both as tourist accommodation and as homes, offering new spaces, new experiences and a fresh, close contact with nature.

Enjoy a unique experience

The Nature Suite located at Mas de Torrent provides a unique integration of the living space within the unspoiled natural beauty of the surroundings. From the comfort of the Suit visitors are free to enjoy unparalleled contact with the natural world; picturesque views of the Empordà from the lounge, views of the night sky from your bed or a bath that most resembles a crystal-clear, forest pond.

 

Suite eco- sustainable

Our suites are constructed using wood sourced from environmentally and socially responsible forestry partners where for each felled tree another is planted. For the suit foundation we use a "nonaggressive foundation" aimed at limiting the environment impact whereby micro piles are fixed in the ground. This system prevents the need for any modification of the site or the environment in which the Suites are situated.

 

Energy Efficiency and comfort

The design and construction systems of our Suites provide energy-efficient buildings that minimise energy consumption and reduce CO2 emissions. Insulation within wall structures [utilising slabs ranging from 16cm to 20cm in thickness] provide our Suites with a thermal and acoustic insulation far above usual standards.

 

Modular construction in 3-D

Each Suite is constructed off-site over a three month, production period. Once the four separate “modules” are constructed, they are then assembled, sealed and integrated on-site within three weeks. The very precise nature of our construction process allows for maximum control of budget and production/assembly timelines.

 

Versatile construction

At Slow Suites we aim to be as adaptable and flexible as possible in relation to our customers needs and specifications. Each Suite is individually tailored to its specific environment and purpose (hotels, wineries, homes etc.), along with the requirements of our end users and their preferred finish. Combined with the advantages afforded by the industrial process of manufacture we also aim to utilise the skills and working habits of artisan workers thus allowing us pay greater attention to detail and finish.
